What is social distancing?

Also known as physical distancing, social distancing is a method to prevent the spread of a contagious disease by limiting contact between people.

How to social distance:

  • Maintain a distance of 6 feet from other individuals outside of your own household
  • Avoid large gathering
  • Limit non-essential travel
  • Limit contact with high-risk individuals
  • Wear a non-medical mask

How to promote social distancing:

Posters:

Posters are a great way to bring light to your facility’s rules and protocols. Think about creating your own to accommodate your COVID-19 plan OR consider printing some of the posters available from the Government of PEI:

Floor Signs:

Designate specific entrances/exits to minimize traffic between workers, visitors, and volunteers. Arrows on the floor or on the wall will allow people to easily abide by these protocols.

Employees:

Encourage social distancing with your employees! People visiting your hall are more likely to participate in social distancing if your staff and volunteers are being good role models. If you or your staff notice somebody who is not social distancing, do not be afraid to speak up! This is a very confusing time for everybody, they may just need a reminder!
